Swim Team, Dive Team & Lap Lanes
Swim Team practice begins May 24 and runs through the end of July. Afternoon practices are on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with no practices on Wednesday or Friday afternoons. During afternoon practice, the swim team will use all available lap lanes. (The Swim Team will practice on weekday mornings before the pool opens, from 8:15am-10:15am, starting June 15.)
Dive Team practice begins May 31 and is weekdays from 4:30pm-6:30pm in the dive well.
Weekday Afternoon Lap Lane Swimming Availability during Swim Team practice season is shown below.
* When pool is open during those hours
** The Merrimack Minis program runs June 20-July 20. Otherwise, 3 lap lanes available.
No lap lanes are available during the shaded Swim Team periods.
Note, however, that the Merrimack Minis instructional program runs only from June 20-July 20; there will be 3 lap lanes available to lap lane swimmers weekdays from May 14-June 17 and after July 20. Please check the pool opening hours, as early afternoon and late afternoon hours may not be available early in the season.
Note to Lap Swimmers: As before, we will allow instructors to conduct private lessons in a vacant lap lane. However lap lane swimmers who wish to use the lap lanes have unquestioned priority over swimming instruction, and should request that an instructor move the lesson to the open water area. Swim instructors know this; all you need to do is ask the instructor to move the lesson—but you do need to ask.
